
Kent is a Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) tennis professional, with a National Tester rating. Kent has been a charter member of the PTR since 1976, and is an active member of the USTA and the USRSA. He began working at Lake Shore as an assistant in 1984, and has been the Director of Tennis since 1995. He has coached high school tennis at Cathedral Prep since 1989, where his teams or players have garnered 26 District 10 titles, and two (2) PIAA state team semi-final appearances.
He has taught players who have achieved at the local, district, state, national, and the professional level. Kent is also a staff professional at The Pennbriar. He remains active as a player, recently competing in the USTA/MSTA Interdistricts in Wilmington, Delaware. He has a BA degree in English, teaches at Cathedral Prep, and is currently completing his Masters in English at Gannon University. Kent resides in Fairview with his wife of 25 years, Deborah. His son Devon, received his Doctorate of Pharmacy from Duquesne University and is working in Greenville, SC; his daughter, Farren, will be a senior at the University of Pittsburgh, pursuing a degree in English and a Masters in Education.
